Tack Logs 2003
SOL Paragliders, always on search of new horizont, starts the project "Nordeste 2003". This project has the goal to beat the most important world records. 30 days in the northeast of Brazil, searching for the best flying conditions.

On this expedition we will try to fly into different directions and different routes in the northeast of Brazil. The participating pilots have a huge experience in Cross Country flying and the chance to fly great results is big. There will be daily news on our home page and with Track Log you even can watch the realized flights.

Today, against our willing, we have to leave Patu and leave behind us a poverty who treated us as the children of their city.

Today we made our last flights in Patu. Fernando took of with his Ellus at 10.30 and landed at 14.30 in the front of the take of in Quixada.He flow 193 km. Frank flow with Ellus 50 km. Andre, Cristiano and Francisco were flying with the Tandems with the persons who helped us so much in thelast 30 days of this adventure.

André Fleury, of Kangaroo (Tandem), if surpassed again, breaking today the world-wide record. After nine days of the flight of 283 km, it arrived at the 300 km.

Today the conditions were stable. The strong wind made it only possible to take of at 11.30. Only Francisco (Ceara) flow with the Eclipse and landet in Quixaramobin next to Quixada - Ceara. He flow 190 km. Frank flow with Ellus 60km.

Today the day was marked by a cold front in the region of Bahia. Whole Rio Grando do Norte and Ceara was with blue sky and a lot of Cirrus. The governer of Patu. Sr. Possedonio Queroga da Silva Neto asked us to fly again above his city, what we did.

Today the sky is covered with Cirrus clouds and there is no wind. Tomorrow it should be better.

Today we took of at 08.45 am. Unfortunately we had to abort the flight around noon time, since there were big Cirrus fields above Ceara, which made it impossible to have a long flight today. André Fleury flow 120 km with Kangaroo, Fernando flow 60km with Ellus and Cristiano flow 65 km with Ellus.

In function of the rescue flight to have very fond late, the staff opted in resting. Today I and the Frank only fly. We take off to the 11 hs, with weak wind and thermal forts. I finished settling in a very difficult area of access, in the way of caatinga.

The conditions had improved as the waited one. Andres Fleury and Claude had established the new record of declared double flight, covering 283 km They had taken off to the 09:30 of the morning and had settled to the 17:10 min. The flight conditions had weakened since the last friday, which had to bad weather that reached the region of Natal (RN), the forecast are to improve from tomorrow.

This night blew more of the one than the normal.Parecia that the wind went to pull out the doors, windows and the roof of our house. We raise to the 7 hours and with certainty the the 50 wind passed of km/h and the blue sky with cirrus in made them to opt to being in house and seeing the morning to pass.

Claudia arrived in this dawn and in function of this we raise to the 7 hours of the morning, unhappyly the conditions of the day already did not seem good, then we decide to go up later, so that Andres and the Claude could regulate its equipment.

We wake up very early, livened up with the flights carried through in the day of yesterday. We go up for the take-off and a great area covered for cirrus if it sighted to the south, disabling a good flight. Exactly thus we take off for the flight and, as we had foreseen, the condition was weak. We fly a little and we settle. The remaining portion of the day we are in house, resting and studying the routes.

I woke up to the 6 of the morning and for incredible that it seems, to the 6:30 already if they could see small formations in the mountain range. I was soon wakes up the staff, therefore everything indicated that it would be a great day. She was only the group to botar the eyes in the mountain range that the running was great.

In function of the entrance of the cold front in the Bahia we decide to make a trick of 80 km, with landing in Iracema, the Ceará. They had completed the passage: Andres Fleury and Rafael Oak. The few clouds in the sky, much cirrus and little wind had provided a slow and difficult flight, much worked. I and the Frank settle soon after Patu.

We wake up well early as of custom, but already if it could foresee that it would not be a good day. A great amount of cirrus was presented in the sky and to the 7:30 it still did not have no formation, then we decide to make a local flight and to wait for the pilot Rafael Carvalho (Laziness), that hs would arrive for the 14 return of.

This was a great day for me, therefore it was my anniversary. We wake up early, as of custom, to the 6:30 of the morning, and after all the compliments for the new age, the group asked on what I would like to make, since was my day and I had the right to choose what in we would make them.

We arrive at the slope to the 8:30 hs and the wind was very strong, with 40 gusts of km/h. Arrumamos everything and is waiting the moment to take off, but we finish only taking off to the 10 hs, when we cover 30 km in only thirty minutes.

In function of a parked cold front in the Bahia, great area with formation of cirrus was visualized in direction to the Ceará. To the 8 hours of the morning the day already indicated that it would not be a good day of flight. We decide then to rest and to know a little more the city.

On this day we decide to go up the slope to the 9 hs of the morning to analyze the conditions and to see if really relative differences to the city existed. Andres did not feel itself very well and decided not to fly and to help in the rescue.

Something of very strange occurs in Patu: weak wind from the half day that lasts until the 22 hs. e from the wind starts there to be strong, with 50 strong gusts varying of km and at some moments the presence of Durst is perceived.

As it was Holiday Municipal theatre the Mayor asked for to fly on the city. Per the morning we decide then to study the maps and to define possible routes of flight and to trace the best roads for the rescue.

On this day we had a hearing with Mayor Posidônio Queiroga for demonstration of Northeast project 2003. Very considerate, it helped us of the one more than we it could.

We leave in direction the Patu - Great River of the North - in day 19/09, passing in Atibaia to catch the Cristiano (Red), in BH to catch Andres Fleury and following direct for Patu in passage MG, ba, pe, Pará and RN, where we arrive as programmed, day 23/09 when we were received by Mr. Crazy Zé who in took them direct for the take-off in order to inquire the conditions of the slope and to start the study of the place.
